Melodic Caring Project Presents rockSTAR Zach’s Original Song
Melodic Caring Project is turning pain into healing for 11-year-old rockSTAR Zach through the recording of an original song with MCP Co-Founder Levi Ware. During his 1:1 Music Therapy Sessions, Zach worked with Levi to co-write an original song helping Zach to process his emotions, tell his story, and transform his experience into something deeply meaningful, healing, and empowering.

“Mend” was born out of 11-year-old Zach’s long medical journey and multiple major surgeries. While navigating treatment, Zach joined the Melodic Caring Project (MCP) family as a rockSTAR, where he discovered a new outlet for hope and self-expression. During a 1:1 session with MCP Co-Founder Levi Ware, Zach was invited to channel his story into a song. Levi and Zach had a deep conversation about Zach’s experiences, challenges, struggles and triumphs and that conversation became the lyrics for Zach’s song, Mend.
Once the song was complete, the Melodic Caring Project team brought it to life alongside MCP Rockologist and engineer Michael Pedrosa. Produced and recorded at Pedrosa Studios, the project gave Zach the unforgettable opportunity to be part of a professional recording project. The experience became a powerful source of healing and joy for rockSTAR Zach, offering bright moments in the midst of some of his hardest days.

Mend – Lyrics:
I’ve had more than my share of trial
I’ve been knocked around and hurt
I’ve learned strength from the hardest times
Maybe you don’t know what that’s worth
What it’s worth
Cause the pain that heals is a badge of hope
And the scars show how hard you’ve worked
And this trail of tears is the path you take
To those gold streets out of this dirt
Yes it hurts
But the hurt is where the light shines
Yes it’s work
But you’re working for the (b)right side
Your love brings me back again
Feels like I’m rising up from the dead
The heart at the center of this broken man
Can mend
I don’t need it easy
I don’t want it for free
Just don’t underestimate me
I’m stronger than you could believe
Yes it hurts
But the hurt is where the light shines
Yes it’s work
But you’re working for the right side
Your love it brings me back again
Like you I’m Rising up (starting to rise) from the dead
The heart at the center of this broken man
Can mend
Your love it calls me back again
And now I’m starting to let it in
The heart at the center of this broken man
Will mend
