rockSTAR Mckindree Pays it Forward

Melodic Caring Project

Rockstar Mckindree, is now a #1 fan who is giving back to other rockSTARS just like her.

“It was a really cool experience. I feel like it was a full circle moment for me. I knew how amazing it was to be that person, but I honestly got to say being on the other side was even better,” said rockSTAR Mckindree as she paid it forward from one cancer survivor to another.

During many stays in the hospital, and often at home in between treatments, Mckindree had been a recipient of numerous Melodic Caring Project (MCP) live-streamed concerts where artists such as Jason Mraz, Rachel Platton, and Chris Daughtry would give personal shout-outs of love, support and encouragement to her by name.

Now, fast-forward 8 years later, and Mckindree is now using her passion and skills as a photographer to give back to another rockSTAR family by teaming up with MCP to provide a surprise family photoshoot and memories that will last a lifetime. On the other side of treatment, Mckindree has cultivated her dream and passion of photography as a lifestyle photographer, a love inspired by friend, Garth Brooks, who bought McKindree her very first camera.

“To have her there taking photos of the whole family and creating these moments and capturing these moments that they’ll remember forever, it’s exactly what we would have hoped that Melodic Caring Project could become,” said Levi Ware, Co-Founder of Melodic Caring Project.

Some of our favorite and most powerful aspects of the Melodic Caring Project are the relationships we get to build with our rockSTARS and families. McKindree was a rockSTAR with MCP in her teenage years as she was battling profound illness that kept her isolated and separated from friends and family during some of the most formative years of her life. During her isolation MCP was able to provide connective and therapeutic experiences that brought joy and hope to McKindree and her family. In the process we built a lifelong bond and friendship with McKindree and family that we cherish to this day. (see more of Mckindree’s story here)

Seeing McKindree in such a good place, thriving and living life to the fullest is the sweetest thing. The fact that MCP means so much to her that she now wants to use her talents to give back to other rockSTARS, providing them with the support and joy she received during her illness is a truly beautiful full-circle experience.

McKindree’s photo shoot with the Lamont family was such a wonderful moment. Working with McKindree as a member of the team, rather than a rockSTAR receiving care, touched all of our hearts and reminded us how truly meaningful and important this work is.
