They Came Into My Life at the Perfect Time

Over the last 15 years, I’ve experienced a variety of therapies at different stages in my life. When I received an email earlier in the year asking if I’d like to partake in music therapy, I was intrigued and eager to give it a go! My 1:1 music therapy sessions have been one of the most impactful parts of my MCP experience thus far.
Katie Conder, Melodic’s Music Therapist and Lead Rockologist, has provided such a safe space for me to explore and process all that I’ve needed to. Mainly through lyric analysis, I’ve finally been able to find the words to express and encapsulate my chronic illness journey as a whole.

The Melodic Caring Project came into my life at the most perfect time! Around this time last year, my sweet friend and fellow RockSTAR Ambassador Kaelyn sent me the kindest message to say that she’d nominated me to be a rockSTAR and receive a song– sung by none other than Melodic’s Co-Founder Levi Ware! I received this during such a rough night; it truly was an answer to my prayers. I just laid and cried in awe of what had just happened.
Music has always been such an important part of my life. From performing in dance shows at a young age, to singing in choirs and playing my flute in the orchestra, my life was always upbeat and full of song! This drastically changed, however, at the age of 12. In the beginning of 2007, my health suddenly and rapidly deteriorated, leaving me lifeless and a shadow of my former self. I was no longer able to do everything that I knew and loved, leaving me to feel isolated and alone. One thing remained throughout this time and that was my love for and ability to listen to music.

Another incredible part of MCP is being able to watch the livestream concerts and receive shout-outs from so far away, even from across the sea to my home here in England!! That has been an absolute highlight of this year. Being able to watch the concert in my own time and pace has been such a gift and is only possible through MCP!
Music has the power to connect, encourage and bring people together from all across the world. I will forever be thankful that the Melodic Caring Project came into my life! It has been such an honour to be asked to be a rockSTAR Ambassador, and I’m so excited to continue to help spread the reach of Melodic. Not only has being an Ambassador changed my life, but also shown me the impact that Melodic has on others to brighten their day also.
