Lauren Daigle and rockSTAR Faith

Lauren Daigle Streaming Live Concert

Let me just start by saying it is such an honor to share Faith’s story with you all. She is 17 years old and adores music and theatre. We bonded over our shared love for music only minutes after we first spoke.

Over the last couple of months, Faith and I have become close friends after connecting on social media. After getting to know Faith a bit more, I found out she is an absolutely wonderful person with a heart of gold, but she also endures a lot. She deals with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), Gastroparesis, and MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome), along with various other symptoms, including seizures that occur almost every single day, sometimes multiple times a day.

When I heard what Faith has to go through on a daily basis, I immediately thought of MCP, especially because she had already expressed her huge love of music to me. I immediately asked her if being a rockSTAR for the organization would be something she was interested in. I will never forget how excited she got as she mentioned Lauren Daigle was her favorite artist…. Fast forward about a week.

Faith sent in her photo to the MCP staff to share with Lauren Daigle.

Lauren Daigle took a selfie with our staff member Stephanie Ware and sent it to Faith.

Faith sent us a photo back. She was excited!

2-14-19. Lauren Daigle performed LIVE in Seattle and her concert was streamed via Melodic Caring Project to us rockSTARS in hospitals. What a dream that concert was! I couldn’t believe Faith would get to see her favorite artist perform for her very first concert through this beautiful organization! Seeing the joy on Faith’s face after knowing she had a really, really hard day was one of the greatest joys I’ve ever experienced.

With Faith’s permission, I’ll share what she said after Lauren’s concert that brought the biggest smile to my face, “I was in shock the whole time. There were moments when I was incredibly excited, but the experience didn’t sink in completely ‘til the next day.”

I then asked her explain what affect the music had on her. Her response brought happy tears to my eyes, “Not only hearing the music, but also watching Lauren Daigle perform reignited my love for performing. There’s something about live performances that touches me so deeply. It reminded me to keep hoping, praying, and working for what I love.”

Her response still leaves me speechless every time I read it.

The way this whole thing happened truly captures the power of music. When I introduced Faith to the Melodic Caring Project, I genuinely just wanted to help show her some love. I know first-hand how hard dealing with chronic conditions can be, as I deal with chronic conditions and disorders myself. I wanted to share with my friend one of the things in my life that brings me so much happiness and allows us rockSTARS to experience unshakable joy on a regular basis.

This girl doesn’t give up. This girl continues to fight day in and day out. This girl endures and she holds tight to hope through it all.

Faith, it has been a huge treat to share just a small part of your story, thank you for trusting me with such a personal part of your life, and I can’t wait for you to experience more concerts in the future! Keep fighting, Superstar!

We support you, and you will never fight alone, friend! I admire you so much!
