How MCP Changed My Life

Written by rockSTAR Reannon

When I was 16 I was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma and had to have surgery to remove my tumor and start chemotherapy and radiation right away. I was in treatment for a little over 1.5 years and in that time I was able to watch 3 concerts from Melodic Caring Project.

My most memorable and favorite was Us The Duo, this concert happened about 2 weeks into my treatment and it was really nice to have that boost of happiness while I was feeling horrible. I really enjoyed going to the concert virtually…I never would have gotten the chance with my immune system being so low. After the concert, I was able to tweet Us The Duo and they responded “Hey Reannon! Thank You for tweeting us!! We and #UsTheFamily are sending tons of love your way <3”

It was an overall amazing experience to have one of my all time favorite bands acknowledge my existence and send love my way.

I was fortunate enough to see them in concert after treatment in July of 2018. To know how kind and caring they were made seeing them again so much more enjoyable.

Then in September, I had bought tickets to see Andy Grammer and Gavin Degraw at the Puyallup Fair, but the day before the concert I had a check up with my oncologist and my immune system was so low that I was unable to be in that crowd; it was quite disappointing.

My friends, made sure that i was still there. They took a picture of me and taped it to a popsicle stick and took the pictures all around the fair, making it look like I was there! They shared all their videos and memories but it still wasn’t the same.

Now 3 years later I was able to attend an Andy Grammer concert in Seattle where I bumped into Michael, a team member of Melodic Caring Project, and introduced myself as a former rockSTAR.

Now here I am, 2 weeks later, writing a blog post; this is not the end for me and MCP. I am now giving back to the organization that brought me so much joy during the lowest points in my life. I can’t say thank you enough to MCP for putting it all together. This is something I’ll never be able to forget and I am so thankful for everything.

Sincerely,

rockSTAR Reannon
