Catching a Moment

It’s rockSTAR Kaelyn here! I am here to tell you about my experience at this year’s Raise a Record gala! The theme this year was Medicine For the Soul, which I think perfectly describes what Melodic is, and what it has been for me, and so many others over the years–medicine.
Anyone who knows me, knows how much I look forward to gala day! It is an event that I always cherish, and is a night full of love and community that I cling tightly to.
Okay, now on to this year’s gala experience. Are you ready? Let’s go!
Greeting the in-person attendees with my fellow rockSTAR Ambassador is one of my favorite parts of the evening. It was so much fun to see everyone, to see how excited they were and to have been able to welcome them to this event! This year’s gala day consisted of something else that filled my heart so much, too. My dear friend Faith was the featured rockSTAR, and not only that, I also got to meet her and some of the people that mean the most to her in person for the first time! For those who do not know, Faith and I started messaging over Instagram more than three years ago, I introduced her to MCP, and she quickly became one of my closest friends! We live thousands of miles apart, and prior to the gala, she and I had chatted at length about how badly we wanted to meet in person, and what a dream it would be when we were finally able to.
At this year’s gala, that dream came true!
Finally, after more than three years of texting, phone calls, and dreaming about the moment we would finally meet, it was finally time! The reality that I was just about to meet one of my best friends hit me fully, as I rolled into the Neptune. As soon as we saw each other, we both screamed in excitement, and then I headed upstairs for the biggest bear hug ever! Michael got our meeting on video, and it has been so special to be able to look back on that moment when I am having a hard time with symptoms.
It is so difficult to describe how much it meant to finally have the distance between us bridged, but I can say that it was one of the happiest moments of my life!
As the gala continued, Faith’s rockSTAR story played, giving everyone a window into part of her story, and she took the stage with Levi, and sang “Dream On” by Ben Rector. This was so special to see, and a reminder to everyone watching to keep dreaming, no matter what.
This day truly felt like a dream, and I am so grateful to have been able to experience it, and also to now have so many sweet moments that I will hang on to for the rest of my life.
