Vanessa Smith

Position: Advisory Board

Since 1995, Blue Ribbon Cooking School has been at the forefront of the Seattle food and entertaining scene, changing with the times, the trends and the needs of our clientele. Over the years our motive has been to bring the family back to the dining room table to enjoy homemade meals together. We’ve not only accomplished our objective with the vast variety of hands-on cooking classes and events that we host but we have also expanded upon it. After many requests we began a catering segment of our business that specializes in elegant catered events for both private and corporate clients. We have become most known for our bountiful family-style catering that is regularly shared at weddings and other events throughout the Puget Sound area.
Though we’ve grown to encompass all things culinary, even our more contemporary offerings such as corporate team building cooking classes are ingrained with our farm to table philosophy and the desire to bring folks around the table to break bread together. All of our events, whatever their format, are wrapped with the warmth and care of our personable staff, bookmarked with the indulgence of abundant food shared with friends around the table, and delightfully enjoyed as a fun and entertaining experience.

A little about me:

I was winner of the 2017 Women Business Owner of the Year Award: https://womenbusinessowners.org/nellie-cashman-award/archive/#wbo-cashman-2017. I chair three different event planning committees at Washington Athletic Club and one at the Bellevue Athletic Club.  We are active members of 3 other private clubs in the Seattle area. I have set on the board of three different non-profits in the past, however, I took a break last year when I was pregnant with our son.I am very active at assisting with funding and producing events for Teen Feed of Seattle.

Rob’s song “It’s A Beautiful Day” was recently featured in ads across Europe, propelling it to the #1 song in Greece. On tour in Rwanda and Uganda, he played to crowds of 26,000 people as part of the iKnow Concert Series and Tour Du Rwanda. Rob believes that love is ever-present. “It means a lot just to know someone cares about you…I wouldn’t have been as positive…I was very proud that Levi [Ware] did a live streaming concert just for me…It made me know people cared about me and what I was going through…Listening to the music helped me forget about all the bad stuff for a while.”

Kaydee , (rockSTAR, Age 11)
rockSTAR-Maya and Amos-Lee

“This whole journey that Maya is on has, on the bad days, been soul crushing. But, on good days, has showered us all with sweet love and strength. The connections that Maya has made through MCP has given her such happiness and that gives her strength to keep pushing. The visit with you and Eva on Wednesday and watching SHEL’s awesome concert really helped Maya turn the corner! Her numbers started rising Wednesday night, probably going home Saturday!! It is a special gift you’ve all shared with us, a healing gift. Here is to more good days in the future then bad, for us all!”

Pete Gladhart, (Father of rockSTAR)

“It has been such a blessing to be able to watch the shows live either in the hospital or at home and to see his face and the smile he has watching. He can’t speak but the squeals and the laughing and giggling warms my heart and brings tears to my eyes knowing he struggles and suffers through so many things. But when he watches the shows that all disappears.”
